Assessment of Capacity for Myoelectric Control is an observational assessment tool that is used to measure and register the person's ability to control the myoelectric hand prosthesis. ACMC has been validated for persons from age 2 to 57 and is, thus, suitable for persons of different ages (ACMC JRM) The scale is sensitive enough to detect small changes in the control of the hand prosthesis during performance of daily bimanual tasks. Using ACMC regularly in assessing the myoelectric control provides the opportunity to examine the factors that lead to changes in the ability to control a myoelectric prosthetic hand (ACMC poster ISPO-04).
Assessment of Capacity for Myoelectric Control was developed using Rasch analysis which gave a total of 30 items that fit and spread evenly along the scale (ACMC JRM). Inter-rater reliability tests (ACMC inter-rater) of ACMC show that ACMC raters need to have experience of myoelectric prosthetic training. To become an ACMC rater, you are required to take the ACMC rater training course How to become an ACMC rater Use of the ACMC ACMC publications Links |
